Hyaluronidase is a protein (enzyme) that changes the permeability of the connective tissue by hydrolysis (cleavage) of hyaluronic acid. It is responsible for the depolymerization of hyaluronic acid, promoting hydrolysis of the glycosidic bond.

Hyaluronidase hydrolyzes hyaluronic acid by breaking the bond between molecules of glucuronic acid (C1) and N-acetylglucosamine (C4). This temporarily reduces the viscosity of the cell matrix and promotes diffusion of active substances.
