Glycolic acid is one of the most commonly used alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) in aesthetic

medicine. It is highly efficient for controlling and reactivating cell synthesis processes. It is well

tolerated by the skin and its small molecular size gives it great transdermal penetration capacity.

Its keratolytic effect encourages peeling of the outer layers of the stratum corneum by altering

corneocyte cohesion. It encourages cell regeneration and promotes glycosaminoglycans

synthesis while increasing the level of hydration of the epidermis and reinforcing the skin’s

natural barrier function.
